What is a Sitemap?

A site map is a model of the content of a website intended to allow the site to be navigated by both users and search engines. A site map may be a hierarchical list of pages arranged by subjects.

A Necessity for SEO

Having XML sitemaps makes it possible for search engines to properly crawl and index a website, and to alert all search engines of the site map by inserting it into the robots.txt file.

Key point: Adding sitemaps to Google Search Console, can improve the technical optimisation and allow google bots to reach your site.
